Salt Lake Capoeira
Capoeira began over 500 years ago when the Africans who were taken to Brazil and enslaved trained to fight while disguising it as a dance. Today, Mestre Jamaika teaches kids through adults of all levels, all aspects of capoeira: strength, flexibility, movement, endurance, coordination, vocal and instrumental skills, cultural awareness, confidence, teamwork, and community. In this authentic capoeira class, we seek to improve our physical and mental health as we work together to strengthen our community. We invite you to try a capoeira class and see how your life can be transformed with capoeira lessons and new friends.

5.0 Poetry isn't my thing, but 365 Poetry has become one of my things.
This event brings together people from all walks of life; Artists looking to share their work and art lovers there to support or be inspired to share theirs next time. Each event is different not only because of the themes but the performers. Some nights you'll experience just raw, powerful poetry, and others you'll get a wide variety of dance, drums, singing, poetry, and more. It's epic. Abi has created a safe space that welcomes everyone. Seriously so welcoming, when I first started going I thought I'd never get up there, poetry isn't my thing. Fast forward 2 years later, I just did my first performance, HA. Aside from the art, there's delicious authentic African Food, new connections, and inspiring moments. Also, I love what 365 Poetry stands for - Loving yourself 365 days of the year, in 365 different ways. These events can be life-changing and I hope you join us, even if poetry isn't your thing.

5.0 ENB ❤️'s Abi & 365 Poetry!
Let's rewind the clock and journey back to 2017, where I met Abi at his December event—a dazzling showcase of creative energy and mix of artistry from poetry to opera, dance to stand-up comedy. After I picked up my jaw off the floor, I knew I had to be involved in this community. My friend Abe who introduced me to 365 Poetry, connected me to Abi, the event creator and genius behind this intimate open mic poetry event in SLC. Naturally, we clicked like bacon and eggs at brunch. Fast forward to 2024, I've gone from observer to poet to MC and now I'm helping others discover 365 Poetry because there's absolutely nothing like this community and container in Salt Lake City. Abi does an exceptional job at creating an inclusive platform for budding artists to practice their craft, and a safe space for all who attend to practice self-love. So, if you're reading this: just do it, buy a ticket, and show up. It may just change your life, too. See you there!

5.0 Space of Love!
I attended my first 365 Poetry, open mic poetry night in April. I walked in nervous, not knowing what to expect. I walked out with a full heart, new friends, and a connectedness I hadn’t felt in so long. Abi creates a space of love through food, music
